Alex Gordon is a poster-boy for these guys. Who are some options this year? Montero? Smoak? Hosmer?

I haven't really seen people sleeping on Montero and Hosmer so while I think they'll have good years they aren't dropping down to great value.
Yeah, Domonic Brown is #1 for me this year. He's looked incredible in Spring Training and the Phillies don't have much invested in the injured Delmon Young.
Another guy that I've been targeting later in drafts this year is Yonder Alonso. The moved the fences moved in at Petco and it stands to reason that some of his 39 doubles start flying over the wall. After June 11th he went .282/.355/.421. I wouldn't be shocked to see him in the neighborhood of .280/.360/.425 with maybe 18-24 HR, 75 RBI. That's not bad value at all for where he's being drafted.

Don't know if he fits since this will only be his 2nd year but I still like Devin Mesoraco. We need 2 catchers and I can probably grab him very late considering what he did last year. He is only 25 this year and hit well in the minors.
I'm also watching Brett Wallace in spring. If he wins the 3b job for Houston he will probably be on my team as a flier.

D. Brown is getting a lot attention and might be on the verge of being over-hyped. He hasn't proved much of anything in the majors and while I'd like to get him cheap, I get the feeling the he won't be.
I'd to hear more on Mesoraco. Will he move into the primary catcher slot sometime this year? What kind of stats can we expect?

Carlos Gomez might be the next poster boy if he repeats the skills he showed in the second half.
Brown and Wallace have already been mentioned though between the 2 probably trust Wallace more since Philadelphia has never demonstrated a willingness to give Brown consistent ABs. Not sure Wallace will get 10 games to qualify at 3B but if he does then he becomes a very nice end game target.
Chris Carter probably falls in this bucket too. Not sure Teheran can really be called post-hype yet since he's still ranking in the top-40 of prospect lists but certainly someone who can make people forget about 2012. Travis Snider will be another who has yet another opportunity to resurrect his career. Guess Colby Rasmus would count in this group as well that PT in Toronto will be a little harder to come by.
Other guys that were once high draft picks / highly ranked who now have PT opportunities:
- Jason Castro: Once a high 1st round pick who hit some hard times with health issues. AL leagues could do worse for a catcher #2 with upside
- Devin Mesoraco
- Tyler Greene: Another former 1st round pick now with a path to playing time
- Ian Stewart
- Gordon Beckham: He's been garbage so it's not so much about more PT but perhaps better production
- Andrew Cashner: Maybe not post-hype so much as maybe he reminds people why a team would deal Rizzo for him (not that it even made sense then)

Keep an eye on the Pirates right field situation. Former starter Jose Tabata has been doing all of the right things so far in spring training. He'll have to battle Travis Snider (another post-hype sleeper) to reclaim his RF spot. Though it could end up being a platoon. Both players turn 25 this year and received a lot of hype just a few years ago.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Though I really don't think it's fair to label him as post hype just yet make sure to keep an eye on Julio Teheran.
He had the horrible ratios last year and there were reports that scouts were at a loss as to why. Recently we learned that organization was messing with his delivery to take some potential stress off and it never got right with him. The big con on Teheran is he seems to get into his head really quickly if something doesn't go his way so there is definitely risk there, but when the kid is on his stuff is electric. It seems that he's been around forever, but he is still just 21 so there is room there to improve that mental toughness.
Small sample size/it's only spring stats:
9 IP 12 Ks 2 Walks 4 Hits
With Randall Delgado in Arizona now and that spring performance I think Teheran has pretty much locked up the Braves 5th starter job this year and it will do him good to be around Roger McDowell and the Braves staff all year.
He was a top 5 prospect for two consecutive years Perhaps the ERA north of 5 in AAA last year has scared people to the point that there is a buying opportunity here in keeper and deeper leagues.

Just be careful there. His poor performance in AAA last year in large part can be attributed with the Braves tinkering with his pitching motion because they were worried about injury risks with his motion. When he sucked, the Braves let him go back to his motion, and he's been great ever since, late last year, in the winter league, and now spring training. The injury risk, however, one would assume, remains.
