In case no one noticed, there are six teams in the NL Central. How can you forget the Cubs, of all teams?

        A few observations--

--How can Stubbs be a breakout candidate when he's coming off a 20/20 season?
--Astros in second? Is that a typo?
--O's in third over the Jays and Rays? Doubtful, as the pitching isn't there
--No predictions of the pre-ordained Yankees win in the World Series?
--I won't predict that my team will win it all. I'd be thrilled if they could win more than they lose, but I don't see that happening, either.
Only the madman is absolutely sure. -Robert Anton Wilson, novelist (1932-2007)

Faith is believing what you know ain't so. -Mark Twain, author and humorist (1835-1910)

A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.

My bad! How can I forget the Cubs. I edited the post

The Astros are not a typo. Every year there is a team that comes out of nowhere to compete. I don't think many had the Padres competing for a division last year. I think the Stros staff and lineup is highly underated, and if Chris Johnson has the breakout season that I'm predicting then it could happen.

Who on the Stros staff and lineup are underrated? I know you said Johnson but who else?

This isn't all about fantasy, DQ (well, yes it is...). A 20/20 season with a .255 BA from Stubbs in which nobody outside of Cincinnati (and some fantasy players) know who he is doesn't mean he necessarily broke out already.

                Where are your predictions?

I guess I underrate the Astro lineup as they don't lose every game, so they can't be as bad as I think they are. Granted I would have thought the same of most of the Padres and the Mariners last season (and if they had the same teams I would think it again).

you mean Stubbs can go 40/40?

I see three people have Carlos Pena listed as the NL Bust this year. Just curious what people are thinking he puts up this year. No denying the dude can hit homers. Can't really seem to do much else of course, but he does appear to be able to take a walk, and doesn't have the earth-crushing OBP that you might find with a barely .200 hitter, if that. Doesn't seem like he has any immediate threat to playing time...unless Colvin can play 1B, but it looks like he never has before.

I think he could still hit close to 30 homers, and a .330 OBP wouldn't be unheard of (he was at .325 last year). Are the "bust" people thinking the Cubs just get fed up and bench him? Or do they think his power goes away this year too?

In keeper leagues that use BA he is almost impossible to roster. You know he will be gone after this year (maybe AL). If the Cubs are out of it maybe he only makes half a year before being traded. So he has almost no long term value. Add this to the BA drek that is in the 2 catcher leagues and you are tanking a category.

I do not know if that is why others say he is a bust, but I sure do not want him on my roster.

I think Pena rides the pine by mid-year and Colvin takes over.

No pine, mabe trade. His glove keeps him in. Besides Colvin takes over for Fukudumbsigning.
