Trading A. Escobar for D. Fowler in a 14-team mixed 5x5...HDID

Not a lot of love around here for Escobar, even though he helped me out with a ton of steals last year. I like the power/speed Fowler offers though, even though his contact rate stinks pretty bad. He seems to hit better than his skills would indicate.

Any, was this a good trade? I probably would have reluctantly kept Escobar, and now will most certainly keep Fowler as my fourth or fifth outfielder. Escobar was $7, Fowler is $3.

Does your league use AVG or OBP as this is one category (also HRs) where I feel there is a big difference in favor of Fowler? If AVG, then less difference between the 2 and you give up a lot of steals at a MI position. I probably prefer Fowler as well all things considered but can easily see a case for either side of this trade.

Honestly I would keep both at those prices. Just one to one without seeing the rest of team, I have no real preference. So if it fits your need, good trade (and you save 4 bucks).

Yeah, I'm not so sure.... The production will be roughly the same, but those kinds of numbers are easily replaced in the OF, but not so easy at SS. In fact, I bet there will be at least ten OFs (maybe considerably more, 20?) that out-earn Fowler that will not be drafted in a 14-team mixed. It's surely a fair deal of which I can see both sides.

Sounds like I might have been better off keeping Escobar for the stolen bases. Good point about there being a lot of other OFs not taken who could produce similar numbers. I'm hoping Fowler will give me some decent pop as a fifth outfielder, without dragging down my average.
