After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

i have epiphanies like that all the time. for example i was watching a basketball game today and realized pom poms are like a pair of tits. there's 2 of them. they're round. they shake. women play with them. thus instead of having two, cheerleaders have four boobs.

They didn't pay him 27 million to sit on the bench...20/80 at a minimum, IMO, with a mediocre BA and little in the way of speed thrown in. I guess that's what we get at this stage of the draft.

he had a breakout season and likely will be an everyday player after Todd Helton gets in his final 15 or so starts of his career.

Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

Horrible BABIP last year but otherwise wasn't a disaster. Unfortunately I don't need a power-hitting 2B, but the speed guys are mostly gone. Can I get .265-18-5sb? Maybe.

                    • Came close to popping this guy last time. Glad I waited 2 rounds. Yes, the Aroldis factor could be a problem, but he has 21 million reasons to keep the closer job, and if you believe the splits, this guy really did find something in Cincy. He may finally be recovered from his Torre-flogging. Just in time for Dusty to do it to him again? I hope not!

Reaching for this one, but I need more SBs. He should win the job out of ST.

His minor league numbers were unreal, so I think in his 2nd season as a closer, he'll be far better than he was last season.

Every last decent closer was taken in the last couple of rounds, leaving me with the ancient Grilli. Who actually had a phenomenal K/9 of 13.8... ridiculous as hell, but he lost several MPH off his fastball in the 2nd half of the season. Here's hoping that they use him wisely and don't toss him into too many "needs work" situations.

Might have to wait awhile, but I think a good gamble at this point.
