It's definitely the right move. It would be extremely unwise to let Ohtani pitch now without any buildup. And I think that Ohtani's hitting has benefited greatly from allowing him to focus on just that. Roberts has repeatedly said that Ohtani will not pitch this year. But, the media still won't stop asking him.

Come on, we all know that in game 7 and the Dodgers clinging to a lead in the 9th Ohtani will take the mound. It is our destiny

I wonder if Aaron Judge will play the outfield (or DH) in Dodger Stadium since that is where he broke his toe on the concrete at the base of the wall. That ended up costing him 56 games in 2023.

Ohtani has a better chance of pitching than Judge being relegated to DH.

                    Game one was exceeelent!

And the two guys I tuned in to watch, Ohtani and Judge, really didn't do much. If Ohtani even gets a single in his last at bat, Freeman would have never hit the first walkoff grand slam in World Series history.

Nestor Cortes hadn't pitched since September 18. And Aaron Boone says "I just need you to ignore those runners in scoring position and pitch to three guys who have five MVP awards between them."

Giancarlo Stanton has homered in 4 straight postseason games. And 5 of his last 6.

I still can't fathom why you pay a workhorse starting pitcher like Gerrit Cole $36 million per year and then remove him from his most important start of the year after only 88 pitches when he is shutting down the opposing team.
