Edward Cabrera - 2024 and beyond

Anyone got any thoughts on this guy ? Is he a potential ace ? Doomed to an injury-riddled career ? Both ? Neither ?

That's 5 questions, gimme what you got

Big risk, big upside. All he really needs to do to go from a guy you can't rely on to be a part of a winning team to a top 20 SP is gain command of his fastball. But that is a lot easier said than done when so far in his career he only throws about half of his fastballs for strikes and doesn't seem to be purposeful with how and where they end up out of the zone. In my league, I have too many guys that chase upside and are willing to pay for it for me to land him, but if you can get him cheap, I think he is a great guy to gamble on. He may not figure it out this year, or ever, but he has the stuff to be really good if he can ever get to above average FB command. His change up and curve are good and would be really great if paired with a well commanded FB.

Until he can reign in that 15% walk rate he's just an "I wish" type guy for me. Right now isn't his ceiling Dylan Cease who is still scary from year to year?

yeah, the walk rate is scary for sure. Probably too big a red flag to gamble on, at least in my circumstances and what I'd have to pay.

I have him at $7 in a $280 cap 25-man league. I just plugged my guesses at everyone’s keepers into RotoLab and he was at $12 for his inflated price. I’m torn and will probably make the wrong decision either way.

Let us know what you decide, so the rest of us can do the opposite.

I'm really high on him as a one (albeit HUGE) skill away guy. I took him in at 19.08 in a DC50
