Keepers in - What to do at the auction (AL)

P Rodney 4

I figure I need another top 10 starter to anchor my rotation and I will have the money for one. I don't need a second closer so I should probably bid a few up to $12 or $13 in case one falls to me below value, and try to grab Fuentes/Jepsen on the cheap.

Offensively I have some power but need a few more bats and a couple speedsters.

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that you have a nice team going into an auction. Certainly have needs to fill, but have money to do it. If it was me I would spend on a bopper with high ave. and a speedster with high ave. plus I would look for the best pitcher (with a clean injury record) that is available for my big purchases. I would definitely go after some big names.

We are doing the auction in 2 parts. Friday night and then completing it 2 weeks later. I will have to see who's available this week.

I might think twice about filling a spot with Rzep. I know it's early in spring, but he got bombed yestarday and Litsch is pitching well. No guarantee Rzep gets a spot so if you can hold off him until the second part of the draft then ok.

So how does this 2 part auction draft work? We do it all in one evening. Do you do your active roster first and then do a reserve draft as the second part later on?

I like Lester. That team is going to be a juggernaut. There has been much talk here about AGon's hype. I'd definitely pay low 30s for him but could see him hitting high 30s. Youk is solid and will be cheaper. I'm hesitant to pay into the 40s for Crawford and I can see his price getting that high.

We went 9 rounds tonight, 90 players, with the remaining 60 to go in 2 weeks' time.

Here's who I bought:

Beltre 19
Abreu 19
Nishioka 17
McGee 7
Bard 5
Damon 9
Jennings 11

I liked the prices of Reynolds and Beltre, though Beltre is my DH. After I got Sabathia for $31, I nominated Lester who went for $32.

I LOVED getting McGee for $7 then seeing Farnsworth go for $10.

I think I have tons of speed and need a big bat. I may have enough guys who hit 20 and steal 20 to keep me near the top of both categories.

Willingham and Cain are the 2 OF I want. Duensing and Matusz are two SP I have my eye on.
