I guess Sanchez is out, better pick up Salas....

        • Sanchez gave up a walk to Hanley and a 2 run homer to Mike Stanton in what was a tie game in the 9th. Knowing LaRussa, who knows when he'll get another chance

          • I think this is all a ploy by LaRussa to give the job back to Franklin: put all the other dudes in situations where they're probably going to fail, and then use that as an excuse to never use them again!

He then walked the next better and was pulled for Boggs. He either has a really short leash (likely) or just didn't have it tonight and LaRussa saw that (also probable)

                • Wonder why LaRussa didn't make the double switch? Boggs' spot is up second in the 9th.

                  • Salas has got to be next, then Motte. Maybe Boggs gets a shot also since he really didnt do much to lose the job.

So far in the majors Sanchez is an extreme FB'er but in the minors he was more of a GB pitcher. Until he can reverse the FB trend, I'm not sure he would last long as closer even if he gets another shot. There's too many good arms in the Stl pen to simply assume that Sanchez will get the job because he has the talent.

                    • Eduardo Sanchez took a loss on Wednesday after entering a 6-6 game in the ninth inning and surrendering what would prove to be a game-winning two-run homer to Florida's Mike Stanton.

Sanchez was getting squeezed extremely tight by home-plate umpire Bob Davidson, but it was still a disappointing outing for St. Louis' closer of the moment, who recorded just one out before being replaced by Mitchell Boggs. As far as we know, Sanchez will get the Cardinals' next save opportunity, but it might be time to stop trying to predict what manager Tony La Russa is going to do in the late innings. And today you should drop Sanchez and pick up Boggs, and then tomorrow who knows... Hehehe.

Sanchez did get hosed on the 2 strikes he pitched to Ramariz that were called balls. But, Nunez also got hosed pitching to Theriot. Two strikes on the edge of the zone were called balls during Theriot's at bat. It looked like Theriot even knew he should have been rung up on ball 3 because he made a face that indicated it was a bad call. Thus, Nunez also got squeezed with the same zone and gave up the home run to Jay. But he managed to close it out with a double play.

Boggs is having trouble controlling his slider. I don't see him getting another chance until he learns to control that pitch.

                          • Brandon Lyon is flying to Houston today to be looked at by Dr. Lintner for shoulder weakness.

Sanchez and Theriot are on the same team...so you mean Stanton? Or so you mean Brian Sanches?
