12 team, NL-Only, 40-man rosters (25 starting and counting against the cap), $280 cap. HEAVY inflation due to the studs being acquired as minor leaguers and not being freely available in the auction for many years.

I believe the top three were:

Troy Tulowitzki: $63

and....I think Hanley Ramirez at $56.

Wow, those are some pretty good investments there.

I try to do the same. But I won't pass on value. In a new league, unfamiliar owners I got Braun in the mid $30's last year - first name tossed in an auction/draft hybrid league. He was "cleared" to play and the price was right. Given the 16 teams could only throw out 5 names each on a $100 budget I also snagged Miggy just under $50. Got 2 more guys in the auction (Shoo and Ichiro, both who I dealt away) for about $11. Was fun but I don't see Braun going mid-30s for a good long time. Resisted dealing Miggy or Braun and won the league in 2012.

I got Braun for the "discount" price of $48 because he was thought to be serving his 50 game suspension at the beginning of the season. So, now i'm keeping him at the same price in 2013. I figure that i'm saving about $20.
