  • 16 team mixed keepers

16 team, Mixed, H2H 5x5 plus Hits, OBA, SLG, L, Hold IP
C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P

We have 3 required keepers, plus one optional, and options base on draft position. Because of options being exercised, I have only 2 picks in the first 6 rounds.

    The core

    C Ryan Doumit
    1B Joey Votto
    2B Robinson Canó
    3B Adrián Béltre
    OF Jacoby Ellsbury
    SP Zack Greinke
    SP Matt Harrison
    SP Travis Bauer

    David Freese
    Paul Goldschmidt
    Jurickson Profar

Cheap option (equal to pick #279) for Henderson Álvarez

    Choose up to 7 of
    Josh Willingham
    Nick Castellanos
    Anthony Gose
    Jedd Gyorko
    Jason Kubel
    Jordan Pacheco
    Jean Segura
    Andrelton Simmons
    Travis d'Arnaud
    Ernesto Frieri
    Ricky Nolasco
    Julio Teherán
    Zack Wheeler

I almost need to keep Simmons. He is likely better than any of the SS that will be available. For comparison, Zack Cozart will likely be kept.

With my offensive core, I want to go for the gold this year, before too many of them run out of options. SP is very scarce and pricey. RP is much cheaper.

Why both Segura and Simmons? I would think either/or.

Also, I should have said "up to" 7. There is an option cost from round 10-17, except round 15.

If Simmons is better than any other shortstop available I would think there might be enough demand at the position to create trade scenarios for you. I know you don't have a MI but I think both will be worth rostering.

Simmons should hit for average with a pretty decent OBA and a higher slugging percentage than most infielders. He should also throw in 20 or so steals. He should also develop some homerun power as he develops though this year his HR totals may not be impressive. I think eventually he could be a 20/20 type, which at short will be awesome for you.

Segura is even better. He makes strong contact and has great power for a shortstop and is a big base stealer. Like Simmons he may not hit a ton of homers off the bat (this season I would be thrilled with 10-12) but he should also be a 30-plus base stealer. That is a great player to have in your utility spot and he should give you lots of options if you don't just keep him.

You noticed I had Goldschmidt to play utility, right?

Here s the likely throwback list, such as I can make it out:
            Mike Moustakas/Ben Zobrist
            Nick Swisher
            Jeter/A-Rod
            Michael Young
            Victorino/Josh Johnson
            Rickie Weeks
            Konerko/Miguel Montero
            Lincecum/Choo
            Uggla
            Werth
            Quentin
            Morneau
            Asdruble
