It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Sure. But not knowing whether you will be leaving the system you've been in for 3 years can't be fun.

The Mets are targeting an OFer (and they should target 3, lol) and have their sights on Coco Crisp.

Should they target obtaining three new outfielders or use the three they have for target practice? (And apparently they have since obtained Collin Cowgill.)

I've always liked Jose Veras. I used to think he'd end up closing for someone but he never really got the opportunity.

Probably born a few years too late. It seems like teams are moving away from the high-90s, 10 K/9 with 4 BB/9 closers, aka the Valverde/Coco Cordero class. They are still out there, but it seems like there are more "crafty" Madson/Street guys with low walk rates and slightly less dominant stuff out there in the 2nd tier these days.

That said, the HOU bullpen is going to be wide open if it isn't already, and Veras is a nice bet to see some 9th inning action.

I just went to MLBDepthCharts to see who the candidates might be and they already have Veras in the closer slot.

Josh Fields might be a better candidate if his new control is for real.

Bullpen by committee......saves split among 3 guys............and at years end nobody has more than 4........

on the plus side they won't have to worry if the guy can go on back-to-back days.

Interesting, I figured they would let him fail as a starter before going that route.

The funny part of this deal is that d'Arnaud will start the season back in Vegas, again, after the Mets and Jays swapped AAA affiliates this winter. Assuming the Mets try to squeeze super 2 status out of him.
Larry David was once being heckled, long before any success. Heckler says "I'm taking my dog over to fuck your mother, weekly." Larry responds "I hate to tell you this, but your dog isn't liking it."
