Per local radio Tigers picked up Jhonny Peralta's $6 million option. Also Leyland back for 2013.

@JohnNiyo: Dombrowski confirms Tigers will let D Young and Valverde go as free agents. Told Laird door isn't closed but doesn't sound likely.

ESPN reporting that the Tigers also picked up Dotel's option ($3.5mil). Their closer mess will certainly be a subject of speculation over the off-season.

                Dodgers resign Brandon League.

Edit to add: 3 years/$23 million. WOW.

Last year, Guerrier made more than the entire rest of the Dodger bullpen --- combined! This GM is just a huge flaming sack of stupid. I hate him.

League hasn't struck out even 7.0 per 9 for the last three years. His ERA has been 3.42, 2.79, and 3.13 pitching exclusively in pitcher's parks. Now, that's not terrible but it's a pretty far f*cking cry from elite. Why the rush to sign him to a mega-deal? Beause that's how Ned rolls. He signs his mediocrities fast and he signs them long-term. Stupid mustachioed assclown.

                  Terrible.
My theory is that Colletti still secretly works for the Giants.

Earlier there was a 3-team trade:
                      A's get: Chris Young
DBacks get: Heath Bell, Cliff Pennington
Marlins get: Yordy Cabrera (from A's)

Plus a 4th year option that vest bases on games finished.

                          Indians pick up Ubaldo's option.

Indians decline option on Travis Hafner and Roberto Hernandez (I assume they mean the guy that used to be Fausto Carmona and not the 49-year old ex-Devil Rays closer)

So when do the Pirates start signing backup catchers, washed up pitchers, injury-risk, etc....?

Signing period starts fifth day after the end of the World Series. Right now teams are clearing space on their rosters, partly in preparation for the signing period, but mostly in preparation for setting the 40-man rosters in about 3 weeks.
