  • Danny Espinosa - Keeper or Not

I probably know the answer to this but thought I would throw it out anyway.

    14 team Mixed, 5 X 5, 14 hitters/10 Pitchers, Deep Minor Leagues.

I own Espinosa at $10, I know he is probably not a good keep at that price but the available MI's are not that great. The way I see I have three options with him:

    1. Keep him at $10 and hope for the best. If he could get 15-15 and hit .270 that might be worth it.

    2. Let him go an try to get him back with the 10th Minor League pick. Most of the big prospects are owed.

    3. Let him go and hope he does not get picked in the Minor League draft and bid on him in the auction.

We do our Minor League draft befor the Auction.

    Thoughts from the Pen?

    He isnt worth $10
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

While he's not going to hit .270 I think he'd return 10$. Question really is if you think he'd go for less in the auction.

        Agreed.

I always look at marginal keeps as this: will the $10 you're using prevent you from winning the battle for Albert Pujols? Roy Halladay? Other studs? If so, why cement the fact when you can just as easily get him back within the same neighborhood.

          This.

Also to consider: Do you use OBP or AVG? He is more valuable in an OBP league, because he will take a walk. Hoping for a .270 average is too pie-in-the-sky. He may hit .270 at his career peak, but I think he's more like a .250ish hitter with a decent OBP and, of course, the homeruns and stolen bases.

they are $5 when activated or they accumulate 130 ABs or 50 IP. There might be better long term keepers available but he may help me more this year.
