  • Howard vs. Gordon for next year?

Who would you rather have for next year...

    Ryan Howard $25A
    or
Dee Gordon $15B (so next year is his option or extend season)

Basically, if Gordon gets extended one year, it is Howard at $25 for the next two years or Dee Gordon at $20 for the next two years. The proven power hitter vs. a shortstop who could lead the league in stolen bases (if he can get on-base enough).

Tough one. The Dodgers have Hanley for 2 more years and the last report I read had him playing SS. I think Gordon is a big PT risk due to Hanley being there and his own average. I'd go with Howard as he should be back to his 30 HR, 110 RBI self for the next 2 years.

    Ottawa Triple Eh's | P.I.M.P.S. | 14 team keep forever
    Champions 16,21 | Runner up 17,19-20

The FOS (retired) | MTARBL | 12 team AL 5x5
    Champions 01,05,17 | Runner up 13-15,20

It is a tough one. I had Gordon and traded him because I was worried about his ability to stay up. No glove, no ave. but very fast.

Howard has declining ba and health issues. They again 30 hrs for $25 is nice. I think I go with Howard in this deal.

I don't think this one is too tough: Howard by a mile. Gordon has a career 72 OPS+, while Howard's return has produced a 140 OPS+. Howard wil be fine next year, Gordo may not have a job.

Who plays 3B for the Dodgers? Juan Uribe and Adam Kennedy.

Not sure Hanley is much of a SS anymore, not that Gordon played very well either.

I was worried about Gordon staying up before Hanley came over. This just adds a little more fear to the mix. I wouldn't have been as worried if the guy had a great glove, but he doesn't.

Thanks for the input. I pulled the trigger and traded Dee Gordon for Ryan Howard (plus Stephen Drew). I agree with just about everything that was said, and since I'm still in the running for 4th place (our final money slot), this deal also helps me for the rest of this year.
