  • Tight League

Our 12-team AL-only league standings today include four (4) teams with 80 points each, and a fifth team with 79.5 points. That's the closest I can recall.

    what place are they in?

we've had 6-7 teams within 10 pts of each other for 2nd-7th this season, and currently it's 7 teams from 3rd to 9th within 15 pts (76 to 61). at times we have 5-6 teams around 70 on the same day
leader has been up 20-25 all season, now more like up 13-17 on runnerup and that lead only on 3rd place.

We have an all-time great owner with 12.5 pts (minimum is 10, and he might finish there), but the "bump" has been for the so-so teams - 50.5 is a LOT for 11th place, as is 61 for 9th place.
Yet you only need 71.5 pts for 4th place, not a big number.

That's four teams tied for first place, with the other a half point behind in 5th place.

        WOW
        that is awesome.

we haven't had a race like that (at the end) since 1999, when we had 4 teams within 2 pts entering the final day - and then there was a 1-game Reds-Mets 'regular season' play-in game that could have flipped the standings.

I once lost a league on tie breakers, but that was only two teams at the top.

I once got a 'co-champ' title off a 4-4 tiebreaker. was cool with it.
I like head-to-head categories as a tiebreaker, but not crazy about "more ABs or more IP or both" beyond that.
best team is most points, and if tied, which was better mano-a-mano.
            if that's tied - that's it.

Most importantly, are you one of the five?

I wish. I've been climbing slowly, and once got within 10 points of the lead, but it would take some pretty good luck right now.

It seems like an awful lot of guys are breaking down.
