  • Questions about adding categories

10 team NL only league. The league is almost 25 years old, went from standard 4x4 to standard 5x5 about 10 years ago. Thinking about making some changes and looking for some input.

Probably will move from Wins to Quality Starts. Should make starting pitchers worth that much more, take value away from closers, and make most set-up guys virtually worthless. Right?

To counter the adverse effect on relievers, we will probably add Holds as a pitching category. Anyone know any other good pitching categories that we should consider?

This means we will need a new hitting category. Thinking about OPS or maybe Doubles Plus Triples. Any of you guys use these categories? If so, has it worked out well? What other hitting categories have worked well for y'all?

    Thanks.

Can you explain your reasoning for wanting to add new categories? Boredom?
Find that level above your head and help you reach it.

One reason, as mentioned above, is to give more value to relievers now that we'll be using QS instead of Wins. And if you add a pitching category, you gotta add one for hitting.

You could still stay at 5x5. Just swap out Wins for QS, and change the Saves category to something like Saves + Holds, or maybe Saves + 0.5 * Holds.

Yeah that's what i would do. And change BA to OBP, but that's just preference.

I think if you change W to QS and add H, relievers gain a slight uptick on value, which is fair.
