  • Smyly + Richards this weekend

I will be away over the Canada Day long weekend w/ no Internet access as of Friday morning until Monday mid day.

A H2H league that uses QS, K/9, ERA, WHIP for SP.

Grimm handed me a rough start to the week - over a small sample, 10 IP, my ERA is over 8+ and WHIP is 2.3.

At most, I get 6 more starts this week.

One opponent has a 3-1 QS lead on me and has 5 starts max remaining.
Other opponent has a 2-1 QS lead on me and has 6 starts max remaining.

League rules stipulate you can't intentionally bench a SP if he is slated to start. I still don't understand if this means Monday he was in the lineup or the day prior to pitching or any day of the week. I think the rule is stupid but I live with it in a daily changes league.

    I must start:
Garza vs HOU (ok with that)
Peavy vs NYY (not as OK - but I start Peavy always)
Happ @ CHC (in Robot, er, Seitzer ... I trust. Or am trying to ...)
Norris @ CHC (it is a K/9 league)

I have two other pitchers I can put into my lineup this week but I need to do so, more or less, tonight. None of my other starers pitch tonight so I really don't have any idea how my ratios (k/9,whip,era) or my QS situations vs my opponent will be. If those 4 do great my ratios can be fixed ... if not i'll be jonesin' for a QS or 2 (likely). Or the QS may be moot.

So after that ramble ... would you start:

    Smyly @ TB
    and/or
    Garrett Richards @ TOR

    ? ? ?
    Thx!

Of the two I'd start Smyly. The Blue Jays are scoring a ton of runs right now, win or lose.

    Ottawa Triple Eh's | P.I.M.P.S. | 14 team keep forever
    Champions 16,21 | Runner up 17,19-20

The FOS (retired) | MTARBL | 12 team AL 5x5
    Champions 01,05,17 | Runner up 13-15,20

Thanks - moreover, would you bench them both?
I had looked up the Jays and didn't like the Richards much, but the Pen may have a different take given the ratios and QS cats I am trying to win.

Smyly has been throwing QS consistently but his ratios have not been great. I'd sit him.

As an owner - Smyly started great but prior to the DL stint he was rough. First outing post DL rough too. I may just leave 'em both on the bench and hope for ratios and some big time luck on QS this week.

I do have Chapman, Jensen and Janssen in the RP slots, so K/9 does ok. I also start Furbash daily to better my ERA/WHIP.

Off in the morn - thanks for the feedback virgonomic!
