  • 2K12 Stooopid Managerial Moves

Dale Sveum is lucky the Cardinals have made three errors tonight. With runners on first and second he makes Starling Castro bunt. Castro lays down the bunt but doesn't look happy and strolls to first base and gets doubled off lol.

I'm leaning towards this being a stooopid managerial move but I wanted to hear the Pens thoughts.

Runner on second, bottom of the 9th and Washington pinch hits for Moreland who already had two homers today, one of which went the other way.

That's the case with almost all managers IMO. The "best" managers are the ones who cost their teams the fewest games.

The best managers are the ones who can balance 25 massive egos every day. It's about 90% of the job, and we get very little insight into how good they really are at it.

Johnny Herrera is double-switched into the game in the top of the 8th. Giambi pinch hits for him in the bottom of the 8th and reaches base. Pinch-runner for Giambi. Easy there, Jimbo, you just burned three bench players in one inning. Are you counting? Because you did just burn one bench player last inning as a defensive replacement. And another when you double-switched #5 hitter Tyler Colvin - 10 for his last 28 and our only player hitting over .300 - out of the game in the 7th as well. FOR A PITCHER WHO CAME IN AND PITCHED ONE INNING AND THEN WAS REMOVED! Are you sure you know how this double-switch thing is supposed to work? Ah, well, what are the odds this could come back to bite us?

On to the 9th! Bases loaded, nobody out, down 2 runs. Who's up? Our five-hole hitter! Who was double-switched out of the game, so now it's a pitcher. No worries, we'll pinch-hit... awwwww, we burned all our bench players. In a nine-inning game. So we'll pinch-hit with a pitcher. Who whiffs. Which, according to WPA, reduces our chance of scoring from 53% to 35%. Aaaaaaand we don't score.

Probably a good thing the game ended there. Had we tied the score, then someone might have noticed that we HAD ALSO BURNED EVERY PITCHER IN OUR BULLPEN! IN A NINE-INNING GAME!

            Pure genius, this guy...

Wow, that is an epic fail.
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

I wonder if there's a WAR for managers. Maddon has to be on top right? Bill Simmons made the joke that the Red Sox should have spent the $100 million on him instead of Carl Crawford.
