  • 2K12: MLB Records

earlier this season, Bartolo Colon set an MLB record by throwing 38 consecutive strikes. Of course, Josh Hamilton tied an AL record with his 18 total bases in one game.

    Today, two records were set:
    1) the Orioles first three batters hit HRs, setting an AL record to lead off a game; and,
    2) Colby Lewis became the 1st pitcher in MLB history to K at least 10 batters and give up 5+ HRs in the same game

Josh Hamilton became one of only three players in MLB history to hit 17 HRs in his 1st 33 games (Cy Williams & Frank Howard are the others).

And he just set the record for fastest to 18 HRs today.

Wow. Being an AL guy, I was surprised to read this. I had forgotten how good he was and is.

RA Dickey is the first pitcher since Dave Stieb in 1988 to throw consecutive complete games of 1-hit or less, and is just the 10th since 1900. He's the 1st pitcher to ever throw two consecutive complete games of 1-hit or less with 10+ Ks.

He's also the 5th pitcher in MLB history to have 11 wins, a sub 2.50 ERA, and a greater than 9.0 K rate through his 1st 14 starts, joining Koufax, Pedro, Randy Johnson and Francisco Liriano.

Rodney?? How much could you have won at Vegas placing that bet in April?

Adam Dunn came within one K of breaking Mark Reynolds 3-year old Strikeout record.....probably why he sat the final game of the year.

This thread should reference Doug Fister's 9 consecutive strikeouts setting a new AL record ...

It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.
