  • Tyler Moore- Blind Auction

I am going to make a blind bid on Tyler Moore in a 14 team (yes 14!) NL-Only league. ($260 cap ). I have to pay him next year no matter what for the price I bid. Whats reasonable? I took over a really bad team and am not expecting to compete this year so this is more for the future. I will retain the rights for three years but am only obligated to keep him at the price next year.

    I was thinking $8- $10.....

can't see risking real 2013 dollars beyond 2 to 4.
you pay even if he's in the minors or in the AL or nowhere?

Yes I pay no matter what. Our league has a clause where you can pay $20 out of pocket to get out of the contract and it goes towards the prize pool. I spend $20 at the bar for one drink so it is more of a principle thing.

I am new to auction leagues and it is sometimes hard for me to gauge prices considering the league is so shallow especially with Houston leaving for the AL. To give you perspective for what guys go at the draft: Kemp $52, Cuddyer $35 Victorino $31, Berkman: $24,Carlos Lee $18, Will Venable $13, Giambi $10 , Justin Maxwell $10, Scott Hairston $10, Matt Diaz $4.

14-team NL only is a good point - VERY tough to get cheap talent.
If you can easily afford the $20 cash if Moore is nowhere next keeper time, yeah, that helps a lot.

your lower-end prices on that list indicate the discrepency vs typical 12-team NL leagues where the other prices are in play.

P.S. I do live near NYC, but where do you spend $20 for that drink - and do you pick up the tab for RJers?

Thanks for the input, I appreciate that! I live in Albany and drink Patron Margaritas with Cointreau instead of triple sec and tip nicely. $20 is a stretch but not by much! If ever in Albany, the first round is on me.

            welcome to the RJ jungle!

have been to Albany - as I recall, the OTB back then charged a bit less but without the upgrade options.
