  • Longoria leaves injured (4/30)

had an awkward looking end to his slide into second on a caught stealing and gimped off the field a bit. Grabbed inside of his knee but not in any obvious acute pain

Saw that. It didn't look like much until he stayed on the ground longer than usual. Would be a devastating loss.

By the way, who the hell is the obnoxious Rays fan I can hear yelling like a twat over the feed?

Obnoxious Rays fan was this guy who made his first appearance back at a game since 2008

He looks harmless enough, but at times during the broadcast he was so damn distracting.

Hearing #Rays Longoria has a hamstring issue, guesstimate is he'll be out 6-8 weeks

#Rays still sorting through options at 3B, may not make a roster move today to replace Longoria (who, as we reported, likely out 6-8 weeks)

AL East is cursed this season

                Some slim hope...

Rays executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said that it's "premature" to discuss a timetable for Evan Longoria (hamstring/knee) until they see how he feels Tuesday.
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times passed along word that Longoria has a hamstring issue which could keep him out 6-8 weeks, but that report may have jumped the gun, as Friedman said that no tests have been done yet. In fact, Friedman doesn't intend to place him on the disabled list unless it looks like he'll miss more than 10 days of action. Stay tuned, as we should have some more clarity on the situation at some point on Tuesday. May 1 - 12:06 PM

                        rehab suspended indefinitely

                        Rays are 21-21 without him.

Some time ago, Longoria said he did not suffer a setback in his rehab assignment, but Rays manager Joe Maddon seems to think Longo did. "I don't think we're going to see a whole lot of advancement right now in the near future," Maddon said."It definitely was a setback, there's no question about it," Maddon said. "It wasn't a good thing. It could be something that he could get over rather quickly; we just have to play it right, right now, but definitely not something we were looking for."

just count on him being out until after the break, at a minimum. FML

                            latest tonight

Maddon acknowledges Longoria return is “not right around the corner,” says they have to be patient
Longo won’t resume baseball activities until after ASB. His return won’t be soon.
The team is so vague with their updates.

Honestly, don't count on him back until at least August 1st. Rumor has it he talked his way into the rehab w/ mgmt who overruled the training staff and he ended up reinjuring the hammy because of it. If he makes it back on 8/1, that will have made it 3 full months.

So then - is it time to give up and trade him

and if you do - what seems fair or better than fair

                              How about Aramis Ramirez?
                              Zimmerman?
                              Lawrie?
                              Hanley?
