  • Narveson - Rotator Cuff Tear

    Severity unknown.

Short term, Marco Estrada will fill in for him. If I had to list likely longer-term candidates if Narveson is out for a long time, I'd say Estrada, Wily Peralta or Mark Rogers.

Keeping an eye on Thornburg too. Not now, Estrada and Peralta will get first crack, but I'm not overly impressed by them. If Thornburg keeps it up he could be up later. Big K potential

So much for that. Not watching the game but the final boxscore for Estrada is quite impressive: 5IP (78 pitches), 9K, 2H, 0BB 1ER

I stashed Estrada on both on RJ teams during reserve drafts hoping that he'd get the chance to start and certainly this should have earned him some more runway.

yeah I've gone from thinking of grabbing him at a low bid and hoping for a keeper, to thinking about opening up the wallet and forgetting about keeper value.

Who do you like better, Estrada or Peralta, as a Narv replacement? Long term?

Estrada. Quote I heard during a broadcast was that he's now "entrenched as Narveson's replacement". And I believe he has the skills to be serviceable as a fifth SP.

Once Loe is back of bereavement leave, I expect Peralta will go back to AAA and await replacing a SP failure (yes, I'm looking at you, Randy Wolf) or another injury.

                RotoWorld:
Chris Narveson confirmed Tuesday that he needs season-ending surgery on his left (throwing) shoulder.
Narveson was placed on the disabled list last week after he was found to have a tear in his left rotator cuff and decided on season-ending surgery after consulting with a couple of specialists early this week. The 30-year-old southpaw allowed seven earned runs, four walks and 10 hits in nine innings this year for the Brewers.

And now Marco Estrada has a strained hip flexor. Pulled from the Giants game, severity not yet announced.

The way he's pitching he needs to go down (to AA) not come on down to the majors. Too many walks to be successful right now.

Yeah, Peralta is really sucking canal water right now. Rogers hasn't found his form yet, either. Best guess is they'll bring up Fiers, but that's only an educated guess right now.

Fiers called up today. Will pitch in Estrada's place. Don't know who was sent down.
