Carpenter definitely the short-run pickup, I agree. But playing time is unpredictable; not sure how new manager Mike Matheny will deal with having more choices - keep everyone somewhat content by spreading playing time? Remember that Schumacher is rejoining the team and is a former starter, so he'll likely get his atbats, and Allen Craig returns in May.

I'd guess that we see Daniel Descalso get some playing some at 3B with Schumacher/Greene at 2B and Freese playing some 1B, an improved defensive lineup that might make sense to Matheny to support a struggling Wainwright and/or lefty Jaime Garcia.

Schumacher's return is also likely small bad news for Jon Jay owners; Schumacher likely to get some starts in the outfield, and Jay would be the guy to lose some atbats.

For deep leagues, Komatsu or Robinson likely sent down upon the return of either Craig or Berkman.

But Matheny is a new manager, so these are just conjectures.
