  • AL Trade

AL 5x5 10 teams. Roster in sig.

I asked another owner about one of Colon 1 / Doubront 10 / Chen 2

He is willing to trade one for Ibanez. I think Ibanez for Colon or Doubront helps me.

I don't have a ton of power. Abreu would take Ibanez's spot. Thoughts?

You weren't kidding about not having a ton of power. Your outfield looks like my AL outfield...a bunch of banjo hitters for the most part. Your infield has quite a bit of pop, though.

Even though Ibanez is a hundred years old, I don't think I'd trade him for either of those pitchers. It looks like you have a couple of decent guys on your bench. But as soon as Ibanez has one of his hot streaks and hits a couple of dingers, I'd send him packing for a little better starter than Colon or Doubront. JMO.

Don't make this trade. Ibanez isn't amazing but he'll produce in that lineup and you'd be getting far from a sure thing in return. Hold.

The only one I'd consider would be Colon, and I wouldn't do that for Ibanez with your roster.

Thanks, guys. I do like Colon in Oakland, but I know trading Ibanez hurts my offense. He should be good for 20 HR as a Yankee.

Niemann 7 is the next step up on his roster. Is that enough to do it?

I see Niemann as an $8 to $10 pitcher in an AL-only league, but with some upside that might exceed those values. I think you are right about Ibanez being a potential 20 home run guy this year, but at 40 I don't see much upside. So, if you feel you have to do something, I think Niemann is a much better option than the three you originally mentioned.

Edit: Oh, his salary is $10 and not $1. That makes a difference. You might be able to get Doubront + for Ibanez right now since Raul is raking. Selling high on Ibanez is a pretty damn good idea in general, though. Dude is old.

Edit 2: I also like Chen this year even though he's in the big, bad AL East. Still skeptical about Colon, personally. He has thrown more than 100 IP once since 2005 and that was last year. He's turning 39 in a month.
By East, you must mean Central, as Chen is still with the Royals.

Players I could ask for would be Carroll, Callaspo, Sogard, Parmelee. The other owner is the perpetual champion, so I won't be able to hose him. As others have noted, knowing that help is on the way in Pineda, it may be too early to trade for a pitcher.

There's Wei-Yin Chen that is a SP for Balt and no, I would not do a trade right now if that's the best you can get. Might as well hold onto Ibanez and see if you could get more if he really goes on a tear.

He suggested adding a hitter (him and pitcher (me) to make it a 2-for-2. I asked him for a list of players he'd give me, and list of ones he'd accept. I haven't heard back.

A few weeks ago he offered Fielder/A-Rod/Aybar for Tex/Hardy/Cano(?)
I told him I would not trade for ARod/Fielder at value due to health concerns.

Today he offered ARod for Johnson and Gentry.
I told him it was too much for A-Rod, and I'd do Johnson for CJ WIlson or Fielder, however, it's too soon to go with Capps as my only closer.

Can ARod be trusted? Do Fielder/Wilson represent more value?

You're right to hold onto your closers right now unless you win the deal by a huge amount. It's one of the worst seasons I can remember being in an AL only league.

On second though tell him you'll do Capps for Fielder. Saves are too hard to come by and he has been pretty good, but wont have the opps that Johnson will.

He has been looking for a bat so I'm not sure he can overpay this much. Would you settle for ARod for Capps?

In a New York minute. I'd hit accept so fast on that offer that I'd hurt my keyboard. Capps is an illusion who will, take your pick - start to suck, get traded, or get traded and start to suck.

I know he won't accept that so since he asked about Gentry I offered Capps and Gentry for Fielder. If he counters for ARod I will accept.
