  • NL - last keeper pitchers

    last year on my team
Salaries are all cheap (I dont care much about the small difference)
so which one will most likely help just this year

    Harang $3
    Bailey $3
    Minor $5

    Bailey
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

          probably Bailey
Harang has the good park, but still...

I prefer Minor, but it's close (to Bailey - not Harang). Bailey's been trending upwards, but can't stay healthy. The weight could be a good thing or a terrible thing, always apprehensive when athletes change their body dynamic...especially pitchers.

Just feel like this is the year Minor puts it together...

I wish I could argue against that Minor analysis. The chance is there.
If you have time, I'd monitor all three in spring training.

I agree with this, but my one big concern with Minor is his short leash given is the multiple options that Atlanta has if he struggles.

If possible, try to trade all three for one slightly better/safer option.

I really like Minor. Hudson is out a while. Hanson's shoulder could fall apart. I think Arodys stays in the 'pen this year. You've still got Jurrjens and Beachy. So are Teheran and Delgado both going to be in the rotation instead of Minor? Not initially. Will the better of them be able to force Minor out of the rotation when Hudson comes back? I'm not sure. I just think there are a lot of paths to Minor finding 25+ starts this year.

I like Minor also...Bailey killed me last year.

Remember - just for one year
                      Harang was 14-7 last year - 170 innings - 3.64 era - 1.365 whip - is 34 and played in petco
                      Minor was 5-3 - 82.2 innings - 4.14 era - 1.488 - is 24 and will probably get more starts
                      Bailey was 9-7 - 132 innings - 4.43 era - 1.450 - is 25 - plays in cincy - has been a frustration

I would trade them if I could.

                      My keeper staff is
                      Kennedy
                      Latos
                      Jansen
                      Stauffer
                      and one of the three

I'd go with Minor. I think that he has the most upside for this year and if he's not good, he's back in the minors.

I understand Harang. But he's not in Petco anymore. If all of his numbers get a little worse and Minor's improves a little, Minor beats him.

Honestly, it's not even close at all for me.

                          Harang
                          Bailey

I'd like to hear some justifications for Bailey, though, since he's the most popular choice. I think he is well below average, personally.
                          K/BB has increased each year
BB/9 has gone down each of the last 3
                          HR/FB unusually high last year
                          IP’s are finally trending upward
                          Development of slider was apparent
                          Added muscle to improve durability

I still prefer Minor, but there are reasons to think Homer finally gets it together this year.
