It is a great place to catch a game. I've seen 4 there now - 2 involving the Rays

Wow. Whowould have thought the Astros had brains. Now if they could find a manager with some, things would be possible.

            Congrats!

What was your job before this? I don't remember if baseball stats was your passion or profession.

I was a semiconductor engineer. I did the baseball stuff on the side.

Damn. The engineering profession loses another fine man.

J/K - Congrats - it's great to see your fine work recognized with what I expect is the dream of a lifetime. All the best to you in your new job.
I'm just here for the baseball.

Thanks. And I was about as done with the engineering profession as it was with me. Too much emphasis on outsourcing to India and stock prices and quarterly profit margins can suck the soul out of a man.

Mike congrats! You kicked my butt a lot in Vintage Drafts and had some good runs in MSGL. Anyway, I wish the Pirates had been smart enough to bring you in. Good luck and congrats again!

Tremendous news. Now that recent post I had about Seitzer and OaklandA's being the two smartest posters on the board is a card for OaklandA's to play!

I think that the more sports franchises incorporate advanced statistical analysis, the better off they'll be. The Red Sox with Bill James and the Cardinals with a year of Ron Shandler have done ok since.

Oh, and definitely do NOT offer any more details on the hiring. not here, not on Facebook, not in interviews (unless management agrees). The spotlight now shines a lot brighter. So be careful out there, as they used to say on Hill Street Blues.

                          ...............

"But, none of us (until now) could ever say that we were TRULY LIVING the dream job of doing what we love and MAKING A LIVING at it in the REAL sports world."

It was all due to my recommendation on LinkedIn, right?

                              Congrats KS.

It's great to see something you loved doing on the side, is now becoming a career.
From the content & posts I've read over the years, this is no surprise & well deserved.
