  • 2k12 Alex Rodriguez - 3B NYY

He certainly isn't worth the real life money new york is going to pay him over the next 6 years but that's their problem.

My question is what is a-rod worth in 5x5 roto in 2012?

He's coming off 4 straight seasons of hitting the dl, is mid 30's in age but plays on a yearly offensive monster hitting 4th.

ARod will be 37 next season, and it's hard to imagine him ever returning to his former greatness. And who knows how much being hated by his own hometown fans will play upon his fragile ego.

    But some disturbing trends:
    - he hasn't played more than 138 games in a season since 2007
    - his OPS+ has slid down the mountain since his MVP year in '07: 176, 150, 138, 123, 116
    - his .461 SLG% was the lowest ever for a full-season in his entire career
    - after returning from knee surgery, he was just plain brutal: .191, 3 HRs in 84 ABs

He seriously looks like he's breaking down fast. Right now I have ARod as the #9 3B for 2012, so not sure how that would equate as a dollar value.

Not sure what he earned in 2011 mixed and only leagues, but these are some compelling reasons to suggest not bidding more than 75-80% of whatever it was.

in a standard 12 team 5x5 he is just about at replacement level.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

His bat speed looks just about gone. I think it may have been related to his hip, though, so maybe an off-season or some surgical clean-up will help things a little. I expect the Yankees will try to move him down in the order. Still, hitting 6th or 7th for the Yankees is better than a lot of other things, such as cleanup for the Pirates

But the park will still help, and he'll have a lot of guys on base in front of him.

          I wouldn't pay for more than 135 games, .260-25-80-55r-1sb.

I'm hoping he has an appointment scheduled with Colon's doctor this offseason.

And I'm hoping Montero is ready to slide into the 4-hole by the All-Star game and ARod and Tex each slide down a spot.

This year's numbers were worth around $15 in AL leagues. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I will avoid him from this point forward.

              Ottawa Triple Eh's | P.I.M.P.S. | 14 team keep forever
              Champions 16,21 | Runner up 17,19-20

The FOS (retired) | MTARBL | 12 team AL 5x5
              Champions 01,05,17 | Runner up 13-15,20

Someone to call out very early in next year's auction.

I guess the silver lining for the Yankees might be all the $$ they look likely to save on A-Roid's incentives. They looked like slam dunk locks when they signed him and I'm sure they'd rather A-Roid was producing at a level to cash them in easily. Right now I'd say the only certainty is the extra $6M for passing Mays. He'll probably still pass Ruth too and get his total payout to $287M but he will have to average nearly as many HR as hit this season just to get there, and he's now at the point where he'll be on the wrong side of 40 for half of the remaining contract. Catching and passing Aaron and Bonds could add another $18M to his payout but that no longer looks like a lock. The temptation for regular visits from his "cousin" might become pretty strong with $18-$24M in jeopardy.

what's amazing is that they'll still owe him $62m across his age 40-42 seasons.

No kidding. So far they coughed up $126M for 111 HR. The supposed big production years are dwindling and the $ per HR rate can only get worse for NYY as this contract progresses. Ouch!

He opted out and got the Yankees to bid against themselves. Will CC do the same?

They wish they had resigned him. Instead they re-signed him.
