10-team NL-only.
Given these standings in pitching categories (me in bold):
ERA: 3.28, 3.37, 3.52, 3.59, 3.59, 3.79, etc.
WHIP: 1.235, 1.238, 1.239, 1.250, 1.253, 1.286, etc.
K: 1028, 946, 913 861, 838, 791, etc.
W: 77, 71, 70, 65, 63, 63, 50, etc.
SV: 79, 69, 55, 49, 47, 44, 36, 30, 12, 12
One of the 12-save teams has Melancon, the other has no closer.
ok, given all that, my definite pitchers: Gee, Kuroda, Leake, Marcum, Nolasco, Vogelsong
so I need three more out of this selection...
chasing saves: Street, Isringhausen, Parnell
chasing wins with recently injured guys with bad comeback games: Oswalt, J. Sanchez (SF)
good ratios, fewer counting stats: Clippard, Venters
Should I stop chasing saves (where I can only lose one point and am going to have trouble making up much ground -- the teams ahead of me have Kimbrel, Axford, and Hanrahan)? If I want to go for saves, I probably have to start both Isringhausen and Parnell until it becomes obvious who the closer is there, and that just feels chumpy.
