  • Pick the Best Pitching Staff

Just had a fun discussion over lunch with some buddies...definitely a decent All-Star break conversation.
So, what's your pick for the best pitching staff since 1970?

As much as I like the Braves choices I can't argue with four 20 game winners. Plus I have a soft spot for the guys that started 35-40 times a year.

Going with the 71 Os. Combined stats for 4 pitchers:

IP 1081.2 W 81 ERA 2.88 Whip 1.139. What is amazing is that none of the pitchers poster a high K/9 ratio. Total Ks 586. k/9 4.8. Their BB/9 2.5. You had 3 pitchers between 282 IP to 292 IP with McNally having the lowest total 224.1. Also had a combined 60 complete games. Those are stats we are never going to see again.
