    Holy shit.

I can see a $50 million per year MLB contract in his future.

It was very cool, they were streaming it live on you Tube. I'm going to assume they'll be doing the same for his next start.

BTW, the perfect game was broken up after they took Sasaki out, most likely in the 9th but possibly the 10th. The opponent, the Nippon Ham Fighters, won it in the 10th on a solo HR, their only hit of the game. There was also a walk in the 10th after the HR and another baserunner somehow, probably in the 9th, but it isnt clear from the box score how the other batter reached base (perhaps a dropped 3rd strike).

If the Marines' rotation is handled in the typical way in Japan, then Sasaki's next start should be next Sunday, 4/24 at 1 PM Japan time, which I think would be be 8 PM EDT on Saturday 4/23. He would be facing the same team he had the perfecto against (Orix Buffaloes).

BTW, the MLB record for most consecutive perfect innings pitched is 15.0 by Mark Buehrle in July 2000 (45 consecutive batters). So Sasaki has already surpassed this mark.

I believe it was a K/passed ball. If you're interested it should be on You Tube again.

Now that I think about it more, it had to have been a dropped 3rd strike and it had to have happened in the 9th inn. So that was when the perfecto was broken up and the winning HR was hit by the 1st batter in the top of the 10th and the walk came afterwards.

Could be--I stopped watching when they took him out.

BTW, Sasaki threw 102 pitches in 8 IP before being pulled. People in Japan have voiced criticism at the manager (former MLBer, Tadahito Iguchi) taking him out when he hadnt even reached the pitch count that he had the previous start, which was after 6 days rest.

Actually, I'm learning now that the MLB record for # of batters retired in a row w/o reaching base is not Buehrle's 45 but 46, set by Yusmeiro Petit in 2014. Actually, Sasaki has retired 52 batters in a row, including the last batter he retired in his start prior to the perfecto.
