  • Correa to MIN - 3 years / $103M

    Crazy!

Edit: Oops, $105.3M. My bad! Maybe can a mod edit the title?

Feast or famine for teams in contention right?

Apparently Correa can opt out as soon as end of 2022.

What does this mean for Royce Lewis? Position change? Trade? Delayed callup? I’m trying to figure it out, as keepers are due in two hours. Yuck. Thanks for any insights.

Surely delayed with Polanco/Correa/Urshela in the IF. With Correa and Polanco locked up for 3+ years, a trade seems the most likely outcome if they are in contention.

My guess is that it turns into a 1 year deal for Correa an he opts out after the season to try for the long term deal again.

Lewis has a LOT of rust to shake off, so a season in AAA will do him some good.

Does Lewis still have the big upside? I’ve held onto him for so damn long. Hard to know what to do at this point.

I think if Correa has an excellent season he is gone. What I do not understand is why the Twins signed him? I do not see them winning this year and that is expensive contract if it turns out to be a one year deal. A 1-yr rental?

Twins LOVE short term deals, they've been pretty lucky with them on both the pitching and hitting sides. That offense is going to be pretty potent if Buxton stays healthy, and really good up the middle on defense as well.

They're looking to get another starter, probably one of Oakland's guys, and then they'll be OK in the rotation. I think the bullpen could use an upgrade, but that doesn't seem to be in their plans.

And Lewis is still highly regarded in prospect circles, he just has to get 500+ AB's this year and remember how to hit.

And if things don't work out for the Twins they can move Correa.

Ok. Now it will only edit the title half way up. I blame Ken.
