FIP vs ERA

Maybe it would be better if they call off the season.

Read an article on Fantasy Pros about the worst 2021 performers in FIP vs ERA. In my 2022 NFBC 50 I have 5 of the worst 20 and the top 3 worst.

A high FIP is an indication the pitcher yielded a lot of homers. Sometimes this is the nature of the pitcher, sometimes it was bad luck. xFIP normalizes the HR rate, but sometimes the pitcher is responsible for the homers (or responsible for limiting) so neither is perfect.

Check out the history of the pitchers, and if they have a track record of fewer homers, xFIP could be the better comparison. If they routinely surrender a lot of big flies... um... sorry?.
