  • Billingsley very hittable lately

last three starts including tonight: 16.2 ip, 32 hits, 14 k.

I suppose today's game was at Coors so that may have something to do with it. Anyone know if there's anything to worry about here?

he is a very ordinary pitcher.

      He's a $15 pitcher.
If you paid $30, you're going to lose money (I got him in a dump trade for a $2 HBailey and hope to win that, at least).
finished 10th in this 37th yr in 11-team-only NL 5x5
      own picks 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 in April 2022 1st-rd farmhand draft
      won in 2017 15 07 05 04 02 93 90 84

      SP SGray 16, TWalker 10, AWood 10, Price 3, KH Kim 2, Corbin 10
      RP Bednar 10, Bender 10, Graterol 2
      C Stallings 2, Casali 1
      1B Votto 10, 3B ERios 2, 1B Zimmerman 2, 2S Chisholm 5, 2B Hoerner 5, 2B Solano 2, 2B LGarcia 10, SS Gregorius 17

He's never been very good against Colorado in his career (4.96 ERA, 1.73 WHIP before tonight) and he's struggled a bit on the road this year (5.87 ERA, 1.70 WHIP) which is where two of his last three starts have been.

He'll probably never be a stud pitcher, but he should be a very reliable starter for years to come (ERA in the 3's, WHIP 1.20-1.30, almost a K an inning).

I look at him as the return of Andy Benes

I have a bet with a good friend and knowledgeable baseball buddy - Billingsley vs Cain in the major 5 catg. 2011.

            How am I looking?

I overpaid for him at the PONY auction and was glad to trade him (with Drew Pomeranz) for Carl Crawford (expiring contract). My team still sucks, but it's better for the deal.

hey but he got another base hit. That helps right?
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

I stopped spending money on guys like him a few years ago. I will either overpay for stud pitchers or accumulate guys like Lilly/Wolf (have them both in 3 out of 3 leagues i am in) that may not be flashy but will be solid. And even if they are not solid its not a big loss in value. I was burned too many times spending too much on guys like Billingsley and Nolasco.

I sat him today, thankfully... Too bad I didn't do the same with Cahill last night. Lots of hits and walks on my team over the last couple of days, too bad its on my pitching staff.

if your league uses k's instead of... every other pitching category.

I didn't say to whom I traded Billingsley, only that I overpaid for him. And if you look at the standings, you'll note that my team has once again done its June swoon and I'm in no position to rag on anyone (but I may anyway).

Billingsley's WHIP is now a ghastly 1.52 on the year.
