Drafting this afternoon - how would you all value rosenthal relative to the other closers with the new injury news?
For context, he was the #2 available in our 4x4 AL only.
Not sure the severity of his injury - what have others with this injury description had as far as recovery/surgery etc?

Well, he's not even getting an MRI done yet, so I would guess, as of today, he'd be back in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks. I didnt see a reply prior to draft Friday, wish that I had. The whole league was spooked on him, he wound up going for $11 in a league that overvalues closers. I was runner up.

And he flew to Dallas today to see a shoulder specialist, and if he needs surgery, may be gone 3-4 months.

Rosenthal underwent thoracic outlet surgery on Thursday. They are saying there is a chance he could be back later in the season. It seems that every other player who has had this surgery has missed the entire season. So, i wouldn't be surprised if he is done for the year.

It's amazing that he waited until Opening Day to let them know he was having an issue.

Padres looking very wise not to re-sign he or Yates........

                  No kidding!

The guy that got Rosenthal was the one talking up his injury. He also got Diekman for $11, so basically paid $22 to lock up OAK CL in two slots.
Here's to hoping Trevino/Romo split the bulk of the saves!

Add another surgery to Rosenthal's medical report:

Trevor Rosenthal will undergo hip surgery to repair a torn labrum according to Atheltics manager Bob Melvin and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The veteran closer has been sidelined for months after having thoracic outlet surgery on April 8, but it seems the right-hander was dealing with a torn labrum as well. Rosenthal will be out for the remainder of the 2021 season after already having dealt with repeated injuries over the years including Tommy John surgery in 2017.
