The A's will be optioning Kevin Kouzmanoff to AAA, and calling up Scott Sizemore to play 3B. Adam Rosales will also be activated from the DL, and could see considerable playing time all over the infield.

Fautino De Los Santos is also being sent back to AAA.

Rumor has it Ellis hurt his hammy tonight and Jemile Weeks may be called up.

That is correct. Weeks was pulled early from his AAA game, and is on his way to Oakland tonight. Ellis probably headed to the DL with a hamstring strain.

It seems like Ryan Sweeney is getting plenty of PT. Is he officially the starter or are they playing the hot hand?

In the event Brett Anderson does need TJ, do they blow this team up and go with a youth movement? See what you can get for FA's (Jackson, DeJesus and Wuertz) and see what you have for 2012. The division may appear winable, but they are 7 down with 3 teams to climb over.

No, the regular starters will be Willingham in LF, Crisp in CF, and DeJesus in RF, with Barton at 1B and Matsui at DH. But Willingham has been banged up, and both Barton and Matsui have been struggling, so Sweeney and Conor Jackson have seen more playing time. But if everyone if healthy and hitting as expected, Sweeney would be the 4th OF.

Brett Anderson has been officially put on the DL (elbow soreness), with Bobby Cramer called up to take his place. Anderson joins Dallas Braden, Tyson Ross, Brandon McCarthy, and Rich Harden on the DL. Not a bad rotation right there.

If they go into sell mode DeJesus and Jackson are in their last year.

Yeah, those two will get the A's top prospects. Not bad players, but not that good, like almost all of Oakland's "hitters".

Ouch. Not a good performance against Chris Jabattingpractice.

The A's will probably call up Graham Godfrey to start Friday night's game. He is 7-1, 2.50 ERA in AAA, with 45K/14BB in 50 IP. Decent numbers so far this year, but walks have hurt him in the past.

Josh Willingham has been put on the 15-Day DL, retroactive to June 18th, and 1B Chris Carter has been called up. Carter was hitting .235/.362/.494 in AAA, but has only had 85 ABs due to injuries. He didn't arrive in time to start today's game, but could get some starts at 1B, LF, or DH over the next 10 days.

Right now, the plan is for him to return to AAA when Willingham returns in 10 days, but like Jemile Weeks, he could keep the job if he hits.

After 2 rehab assignments in the minors - 7.2 IP, 3H, 3ER, 3BB, 12K - Rich Harden is expected to start on Friday for Oakland at home against the Diamondbacks.
