This is why folks hold on to proven hitters during early season slumps. He and Uggla are validations of the don't sell low mantra and those who mock early season doom and gloomers. However, Adam Dunn is the other end of things. Sometimes hitters don't flip that switch, and we hold on to those rocks until we drown. If we could figure out the hows and whys of slumps and recoveries, we'd be in good shape. I'm sure smarter folks than me here can break down the underlying data to show us why Ramirez and Uggla figured it out and why a guy like Dunn has not--besides the easy "he's fat" proclamations.Originally posted by Hammer View PostComment

Dunn is the very end of things. Guy in my AL only league was receiving offers for Dunn in May and early June (it was known he'd be dumping early) but didn't think they were good enough so he held out for an offer he liked. I picked up Ramirez in a deal probably just as he was starting to pick it up and he's been amazing for me. His stats for me: 243 AB, 20 HR, 57 RBI, 44 R, .337 AVG. If I didn't own Braun and Tulo his half a season would be the most productive on my team.I'm unconsoled I'm lonely, I am so much better than I used to be.
