I think I posted about this before but here goes again. It never fails. If I activate a starter for a Coors Field start, he invariably gets bombed. If I deactivate him, he pitches well. I am the victim again this week. I deactivated Lance Lynn for his start Friday night and he pitches a gem: CG, 1 ER, only 2 baserunners, 2 Ks and the win. I didnt deactivate Kolby Allard, who had been pitching great. He gets bombed today: 3 IP, 6 ER, 9 baserunners, 6 Ks. I feel forced to leave rookie Cristian Javier active for his upcoming Coors Field start on Thursday. It's either him or Teheran, who's been horrendous, against Oakland. He got bombed again today against the Dodgers. I'll take my chances w Javier, who's been great so far. I never worry about any stadium other than Coors.

Edit to add Lynn had 6 k's in his Coors start.

sorry, you can blame me, I left Allard active as well (against my better judgement) ... 5th starter of mine to give up 6 or more runs in a start this year ...It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Allard had been good in a very small sample, I expect he'll revert back to being himself, which is a fringe 5th starter.
They really aren't comparable.

BTW, I picked up Alec Mills in our FA draft and I've replaced Javier w him. Now, Javier will probably pitch a gem in Coors on Thursday.Last edited by rhd; 08-17-2020, 11:20 AM.

Yeah, i benched Javier also. I can't help but wonder if pitching effectively at Coors Field is something that can be learned. But, previous history says it will probably always be a crapshoot.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
