Now that the Diamondbacks have released him, I think it's time for the Rays to pony up and sign this guy. I'd love to see him back in an M's uniform as I think he's better than Jack Cust at this point, but it makes a lot more sense for him to go to Tampa if they'll have him.

He is so much fun to watch hit -- his moonshots are a thing of beauty. There's a chance his back injuries in the past couple of years have taken their toll on him, but he's got a ton more upside than anything Casey Kotchman brings to the plate at this point. And he's a good defender, too. He'd have to be platooned, but that wouldn't be a problem on the versatile Rays' team, and he can hang tough and battle against southpaws in a pinch if asked and not look like a fool (like so many other platoon guys). A total professional on pretty much every level, he'd be a real boon for the Rays if they can get him.Originally posted by Moonlight J View PostComment
