  • Sean Burroughs is Back in Baseball!!

No, this isn't a thread from 2009, or 2007 even.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of 3B Sean Burroughs from Triple-A Reno.
Burroughs, 30, earned the promotion by batting .386/.434/.571 in 27 games at the Triple-A level. He hasn't played in a major league game in five years and shouldn't be expected to produce at a very high level.

It's just temporary, while Melvin Mora is on bereavement leave.

Sorry, I'll try it a little more detailed.

Sean Burroughs, the pudgy California Little League star of yesteryear, is a 30-year old 1B with a decent line drive stroke but does not hit the ball with any authority. He also, despite the recent outburst in AAA, cannot hit flyballs. Despite the groundballs and the empty contact, Burroughs does offer (or did in 2006) above average speed although no manager in his 5 year career gave him the greenlight to run. Typically his SBO was around 5-6%.

Aside from a brief coming back party where Burroughs might flash an inflated hit rate and some timely base hits, there is nothing to see here.

Was he really back in the majors? Did anyone actually see him in a uni?
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

He cranked his first homer since 4/3/05 tonight.
