Pearce a boring 2007-11 with the Pirates
2012, also boring - but with the Orioles, Astros, and Yankees
2013, respectable part-time gig as usual, back with the O's
2014, wow - stellar 157 OPS+ in 383 PA with O's. late bloomer?
2015, oh it's back to boring
2016, joins the Rays and nails a 148 OPS+ in a half-season so the O's bring him back for a 3rd time down the stretch (and yes, he's boring again)
2017, part-time boring, now with the Blue Jays
2018, 135 OPS+ in 86 PA with Jays again - and upon learning that at age 35 he goes to the Red Sox, Pearce gets to yell out "AL EAST BINGO!"
career, meh 109 OPS+ with 20 HR in a full season (except he never has had 400 PA in any MLB season)
weird careerfinished 10th in this 37th yr in 11-team-only NL 5x5
own picks 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 in April 2022 1st-rd farmhand draft

fwiw, his time with the Jays was indeed up & down, but he did have a penchant for big hits late in tight games ... last year he even had two (!) walk-off grand salamis within a few days of each other.
He should make for a great off-the-bench player for Boston. Hopefully Espinal turns into something - he's hitting a very respectable .314/.364/.478 at high A Salem this year (altho he's not young at 23).It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.
