If I'm dealing Eloy, I'm going for the gusto. I'd take deal 2. You get a SB game changer, great BA/OBP help, and a ton of runs. The pitching help is nowhere near as good as offer 1, but I'd take the hitting upgrade and try to deal for more pitching in another deal.
I'm just here for the baseball.

Hard to compare without knowing more info. Which is a bigger need, hitting or pitching? Offer 1 gives you nothing on the hitting side, while Offer 2 is at best break even on the pitching side.

My weakest category is average getting 4 points.

I am currently getting 54.5 pitching points and 43.5 hitting points.

Then the 2nd offer makes more sense, but I'd try to get a better pitcher included. Melancon might not ever get the closer gig back with the way Strickland is pitching.

I have Strickland and so Melancon was more insurance than anything.

Ok, but Roark is a downgrade from Corbin. Considering how much you're giving up, I would not want to downgrade my pitching if possible.

Deal 1 is terrible. I like Boxberger but he's no sure thing. Zimm is almost a zero. Not enough for 2 studs. I like deal 2 a lot more even though you're giving up a lot more.

By substitution rule, deal 2 is

                Olson
                Schoop
                DeGrom
                Boxberger
                Ryan Zimmerman
                Corbin

                -for-

                Votto (possible keeper at $42)
                Dee
                Beltre
                LeMahieu (possible cheap keeper)
                Roark
                Melancon

                That looks good to me.

If i am playing to win this year, you dont think getting DeGrom is a huge deal? Eloy will probably provide little this year and Devers looks lost at the plate.

DeGrom would be a great get if you had a big need for pitching. From your earlier post, looks like you're solid there but weaker in hitting. Nothing against DeGrom, but in your situation, I'd much rather have Votto, Gordon, Beltre and LeMahieu.

I agree that those 4 would be a great add, but my SP are Corbin, Wacha, Junis, Stripling, McCullers, Cahill with Kershaw on the DL. I really don't trust that group keeps me in the hunt.

If Kershaw comes back and I add Degrom and Box, then I think that I have a great opportunity to get about 65-68 points in pitching. my hitting should at least be good enough to get me 40 or more.

Yep. Given the current points, this is the way to go.

I would try to figure something out that allows me to keep Eloy.

Good info - but even with that, I'd still think you could get a better return than DeGrom and Boxberger for Eloy and Devers. I get that you play primarily for this year, but those are two pretty huge young lottery tickets I think you're underselling. At a minimum, I'd think you could get a better hitter than Ryan Zimmerman in the return package with DeGrom and Box.

I went with trade for DeGrom for a few reasons.

                            1. The potential to dominate pitching categories. I think (hope) my hitting is good enough to give me a good shot at the title.
                            2. DeGrom at $57 is a solid keeper in my league at that price.
                            3. If my team fades, DeGrom is a great trading chip.
                            4. Most of the owners in my league don't place a big value on prospects.

Thanks for all of the opinions guys!!

                              Obviously your trading partner does.

                              Best of luck moving forward!
