  • Dynasty Trade: Would you trade Bellinger ?

Would you trade Cody Bellinger for Luiz Gohara and Austin Riley? No contracts / salaries? Is it fair value long term?

Edited: I've backed away from this thought. What about trading Kyle Tucker for those two if you need to add some long term high upside SP to my team? My hitting is great, my pitching not so much.

I would not. Clay has struggled but I doubt either Riley or Gohara can do what he did last year.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

Yes, but you could see it coming in the playoffs last year. I have an uneasy feeling Bellinger may turn into another Dave Kingman. When he whiffs, he really whiffs. When he slumps, he really slumps and we may see a lot of that throughout his career. I thought his .267 avg was high last year. Will he turn into a one trick pony?

Perhaps I'll offer him Kyle Tucker for Gohara and Riley.

There's almost no way I'd give up on a 22 going on 23 year old with his talent, and certainly not for Riley and Gohara.

I had to come to my senses. Would you trade Kyle Tucker for those two if you needed pitching long term? I wouldn't trade Tucker for Gohara straight up but Riley has a lot of upside too. I feel I need to add some high upside SP to my team. My hitting is great, but pitching not so much.

Much as I like Tucker, I might do that deal, depending on my other minor leaguers. Tucker certainly is more likely to help you sooner, IMO - Houston's LF situation still isn't that great, but I do like Gohara long term and you're right about Riley having a lot of upside.

Glad I didn't trade him. I need to realize that baseball is a game of peaks and valleys and it's in your best interest to be patient.

Yes. This belongs in a few other threads too.

I am as big a Braves homer as we have here, but I wouldn't trade either of them for Gohara and Riley (and I own Riley in every league where he would ever be owned and Gohara in one of two). Riley has a serious K issue, and Gohara could be great, but he has conditioning issues and hitters are safer.

Riley sprained his knee yesterday. Oh, and Bellinger is en fuego.

Then I'm thankful I didn't trade Bellinger, but did trade Tucker for Riley and Gohara. Riley has a sprained PCL and will be out a few weeks. At least it isn't a torn ACL.
