  • 2k18: Daniel Mengden

Has anyone else noticed how good Daniel Mengden (OAK) has been recently? Working on his second consecutive shutout (I probably jinked him) (and ok fine it's vs TB), and has 1 ER in his last 31 IP. Last few starts are (most recent first):

    vs ARI - 9IP, 0ER, 2H, 5K, 0BB
    at TOR - 7IP, 0ER, 2H, 2K, 1BB
    at BOS - 6IP, 1ER, 8H, 3K, 0BB
    vs HOU - 6.2IP, 2ER, 6H, 4K, 0BB
    vs BAL - 5IP, 1ER, 3H, 5K, 1BB

Mr. Moustache seems to have figured something out. Is this for real?

      He's still a very low K% guy. Just 5.8 K/9.

Too much contact leads to danger. Especially in Arlington in the heat of summer.

think i jinked him. that's bad when DeShields can get you to walk him twice when he's been like 0-30 and can't hit RHP right now (hamate).

Good point. A contact-type pitcher like him will do well at home in Oakland, but there's sure some danger places I'd avoid him once it gets hot.
I'm just here for the baseball.
