12 team AL only - rate my team/hdid?

we just had our 12 team AL only draft tonight. This is a keeper league with the standard $260 salary cap for our auction. We draft the 14/9 standard rosters. We have 10 scoring categories - Runs, HR, RBI, SB and OB% and pitching is QS, Era, Whip, SO and S+H.

so here is my team - I had a good keeper list coming in, but inflation was crazy. We had a record number of players going over $50, so I had to jump in and spend on JDM and Carrasco. Thanks for any comments or questions. I would be happy to share some of our auction prices if anyone has a draft coming up and would like to see.

You had an outstanding keeper list that gave you a really good base.

I'd like to see a better second catcher unless Swihart was a sneaky play for a guy who will get AB in the OF. Come to think of it, I guess that's why he would be drafted.

With all those cheap keepers you needed to spend on a bopper so I like the JDM buy. Gardner looks like an overpay but if there wasn't much speed left late in the draft I can see it. Jones is steady but I'd rather see that money go to some SB. I think speed is your weak link. How much did Gordon go for?

You needed an ace and Carrasco is in the second tier. Crazy inflation though! I like Lynn and Karns and paid similar prices in my AL (15/1). You have a really balanced staff and 2 closers.

If Healy and Cron deliver your power will be ok. If you can add steals, HR/RBI or RP through FA or trade, I think this team is a contender for the title.

jackb - here is a list of players bought during this years auction along with their price... lots of $ went in the first half and there were a few bargains late. this was my 22nd year in this league and this year the timing of when a players name was tossed out for bidding had more importance of ever before. I was constantly looking at what teams had what open positions and how much $$ everyone had. let me know if you have any questions.

RMartin 14 - He's 35 and his AVG has dropped the past 4 years. He hit .221 last year. I'd rather have any of the cheaper guys and the cash.

Jay 2 - I got him for $1 but he went for $17 in LABR. At least 2 teams really wanted him.

Rodney 1 / Reed 11 /Hildenberger 8 - Very interesting that the guy who has the job went for $1. They aren't going to take the ball out of his hand. I guess the word on Hildenberger got out. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out - is Adams next in line or is he locked in as the setup man?
