  • Glad I didn't keep that Bum

Hemming and hawing all winter about whether or not to protect Bumgarner and finally decided not to.

Today he gets hit in the hand, and it appears that this may be a troublesome injury.

Bumgarner went for insane money in my main league. Sale, Scherzer, and Kershaw were all in the auction, and all went for high, but inflation appropriate amounts. Two owners felt left out in not getting one if the big three and pushed Bumgarner's price past both Kershaw and Scherzer.

Unreal. So much for that target of mine. Fortunately, I haven't drafted anything yet.

On second thought, I think he's a nice guy. If this had happened at the same time tomorrow, given all the drafts that will be held then, it would have been absolutely brutal.

Broken pinky finger, surgery tomorrow to insert pins. Olney says 6-to-8 weeks, but that sounds aggressive. I'd bank on 8-to-10 weeks, putting him out of action until Memorial Day.

                Presumably his throwing hand?

Someone who’s not a contender will surely look to buy him now to obtain a keeper for 2019 and beyond. I can’t afford the missed time personally.

Not so good for the owner who spent $40. My other NL draft is this Sunday. That should drive his price down.

That clattering sound you just heard? It's the Giants falling to the NL West cellar.
I'm just here for the baseball.

In a 5x5 10 team NL league with him likely out for 2 months what would bid for him?

For a keeper league, you have to assume he's going to be bought by a non contending / rebuilding team and they will go to somewhere around 70% of normal price for your league.
