  • Do this swap?

    NL only 10 team 4 x4 2 catcher league.

My $1C Duvall for his $2B Barnes. Including Duvall I have 4/5 OF spots protected, currently have no catchers.

Duvall has been a cheap 30 HR 100 RBI source the last 2 years but I think he's going to fall off some this year while Barnes is a nice fill at catcher. I would not be extending Duvall.

    wow, that's tough
Barnes is a sleeper, but Duvall produces
    yes, Reds OF in flux

would Barnes go for more than 2 in 10-team NL, even in a 2-catcher league without runs?

I wish I had more insight than "wow, that's tough"

Barnes would likely go for about $6. Duvall would be more.

On the surface this points to Duvall, but I'm worried about what will be available at catcher. Basically it's Realmuto and then down to lesser guys than Barnes.

Is Grandal available? Would you be able to get him for something reasonable?

I agree that it's tough. I am just worried Barnes is a flash in the pan and even in 450 AB, Duvall gets you 25 HRs.

I'd do it because when the Dodgers find a taker for Grandal, Barnes will be playing 6 days a week.

          Ottawa Triple Eh's | P.I.M.P.S. | 14 team keep forever
          Champions 16,21 | Runner up 17,19-20

The FOS (retired) | MTARBL | 12 team AL 5x5
          Champions 01,05,17 | Runner up 13-15,20

Grandal is owned with a $7C contract and I expect he'll be protected. I prefer Barnes for his contract.

I'd stick with the more sure thing in Duvall myself.

03.16: Austin Barnes singled and drew a walk against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
(Barnes has had a rough go of it this spring. Not only was he limited to DH duties for a bit due to an elbow issue, but he's hitting just .136 (3-for-22) during Cactus League action. Barnes appeared to be gaining momentum in fantasy leagues after emerging as the primary catcher late last season, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts now appears inclined to give Yasmani Grandal most of the starts against right-handed pitchers.)

Duvall in this case. Not a huge fan but I think he’s your play.

Keep Duvall. Good keeper price and even with rotating OF plan he will still get more AB probably by a good margin over Barnes.

I agree, tough swap. Is this OBP? That would help Barnes' case greatly.

No, it's BA. After finishing near last in BA the last couple of years I vowed to improve there this year, but don't want to be stupid about it as it's always a tough category to chase. If I don't get Barnes, I'm probably going with two $1 backup catchers that won't play a heck of a lot. That again takes me back to Duvall's expectations this year.

There have been rumblings about Schebler taking time away from Billy in CF, which opens up playing time for Duvall, but that could be out the window if Billy improves this season.
