  • Any DC locals, frequent Nationals Park?

I'll be taking a trip to DC later this month and have tickets to watch the Nationals host the Padres on Friday, the 27th. I'm meeting up with my childhood best friend and taking him to the game. It'll be my first trip to that park.

Anything I should make sure to see at the park or in the immediate area? Any restaurants I shouldn't pass up on?

I'll be doing a little touristy stuff on this trip, but it'll be limited.

There were alot of good intentions regarding the neighborhood around the new Nats park, but unfortunately they opened it around the time the economy tanked, so there are just some nice holes in the ground to look at over there. (My friend runs the local Dogfish Head Brew Pubs, and was talking about opening one over there eventually, but I think I heard they just don't have the beer-making capacity in DE to keep up with the demand even now.) The park does have good Metro access, and that runs late on the weekends. The Green line it is on will take you to into the Verizon Center/Penn Quarter/China Town area. I suggest downloading a Metro map from wmata.com, and once you hit town pick up the Washingon Post weekend section. Thousands of motorcycles come into town on Memorial Day weekend, congregating at the Pentagon and coming over one of the bridges I believe sometime late morning, early afternoon on Sunday.
