Also contributing to the record number of pitchers with blisters this year. Marcus Stroman was particularly vocal about it ...

“I’ve never had a blister ever in my life. Nothing even remotely close to having a blister. It’s crazy. It’s extremely frustrating. I feel like it’s an epidemic that’s happened across the big leagues now. A bunch of pitchers getting blisters. Guys who have never had blisters before. Having said that, it does seem that teams are a lot more willing to let guys go up there & swing for the fences lately (Joey Gallo being the poster boy)

I'm sure it is a combination of things, but there seems to be a lot of evidence that the ball is different this year--tighter and harder.

yeah, I guess the idea is that Joey Gallo & Justin Bour now hit them 490 instead of 450, but Didi Gregorius and even Andrelton Simmons hit some of them 350 instead of 310.
