  • 2k11 Leo Nunez

He is following up his bad 2k10 with a great start thus far, converting 12 of 12, with a neat 2.70 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Many thought Hensley would take over but Nunez has done more than the Marlins and his fantasy owners couldve expected thus far.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

Who said he was bad last year? His ERA was a little inflated but even given his one bad stretch he finished with a 2.86 FIP/2.86 xFIP, 54% groundball rate and almost 10 K/9 to go with 30 saves

Nunez was terribly underrated heading into this season. I saw people that had Lyon ranked over him. Here's what I said in a BP piece in February

I prefer to use this matrix style of analysis with color coding because it quickly allows me to review the strengths and weaknesses of a reliever as I evaluate him mid-draft. If I am late in a draft and looking for another closer, I am more likely to jump in on Leo Nunez because he shows one of the stronger skill sets of the lower ranked closers over someone like Brandon Lyon or Ryan Franklin who are ranked higher but present several areas of caution. I also know that Nunez’s K rate has increased each of the past three seasons.

Fredi Gonzalez said he was bad. Its why Nunez lost the spot for a month.
