  • Justin Wilson, Alex Avila to the Cubs

    for Jeimer Candelario etc.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

Man I hope so. I've been the bridesmaid not the bride on several other closer carousels.

Greene as the closer make sense. Rondon has been horrendous

in Rondon's last 1.1 innings, he has given up 8 earned runs...without issuing a walk

I have Greene and Joe Jimenez. Hope I'm covered.

Yeah he was decent enough for a stretch before that... then I picked him up to speculate. Sorry Bruce.

I just realized that with this trade, Tigers GM Al Avila traded away his first born son.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Wow, that is nuts. Awkward Thanksgiving.

Disagree. He put his kid on a World Series contender. Win for the Avilas.

Greene to close for now. Jimenez could work himself into the closer position. Rondon will be lucky to have a job somewhere next season.

So far this trade is getting negative reaction here in Detroit so far we have traded for 4 third basemen a SS and a payroll that is still close to $200 mil. Mission accomplished.

Could be worse. Mets really only deal Duda and Reed for salary relief and 4 minor league relievers. Bleh.

We knew this day was coming. Ilitch was a good and beloved owner but the biggest fault was signing mega contracts past when a player reach his peak. These mega deals were Ilitch desire to bring a WS to Detroit. In the end I believe this is why Dombrowski lost his job because he saw the direction this team was headed in and wanted to retool the Tigers. This wasn't Ilitch desire so gone was one of the best GM the Tigers have ever had in and promoted in his place Avila. Avila has added to the carnage with signings like Zimmerman, Upton, Pelfrey and Lowe. Trading for Krod, trading off Cameron for salary reasons. I don't think his son Chris Ilitch shares the same passion and wouldn't surprise me that the Ilitch's end up selling the Tigers. The Tigers are going to have to do something that they haven't done in eons - develop a Farm system that produces players. Comerica Park is going to see a few less fans over the next several years.
